Laura Baskurt graduated
from Arizona State University with a degree
in political science in 1992, and obtained
her Juris Doctor from the University of San
Diego School of Law in 1995.
After law school, Laura
practiced litigation at Hillsinger &
Costanzo in Orange, until 1997, specializing
in medical malpractice defense. Laura then
joined Murtaugh Meyer Nelson & Treglia LLP
in Irvine as an associate, where she
concentrated on commercial litigation and
employment law until 2000. At Murtaugh,
Laura defended many national clients through
motion practice and discovery in a wide
range of litigation matters.
In 2000, Laura joined
Snell & Wilmer, LLP in Costa Mesa as an
associate, where she practiced until 2005.
At Snell & Wilmer, Laura defended consumer
products manufacturers and automobile
manufacturers in product liability, premises
liability, and commercial litigation. At
Snell and Wilmer, Laura was the primary
handling attorney on approximately 20-30
litigation matters at a time, and was
responsible for each of those cases from in
initial pleadings through trial and
post-trial, including supervising junior
attorneys. Laura has prepared and argued
numerous motions in state and federal court,
taken hundreds of depositions, has
successfully mediated numerous cases,
prepared for dozens of trials, and has
second-chaired two trials.
Laura left Snell &
Wilmer in 2005 to practice law on a reduced
schedule, and has been independently doing
contract work for attorneys in Orange County
from 2005-2009. Laura then joined Taylor
Anderson in 2010 where she handled
commercial litigation. Laura left Taylor
Anderson in 2011 and joined Montage Legal
Group.
Laura is currently
doing contract work for several law firms
and private clients. In addition to her
legal work, Laura is on Parent Council at
her son’s school and is a member of the
National Charity League, Jrs. where she and
her daughter work to raise funds and
volunteer hands-on for a number of
not-for-profit philanthropic organizations
in their community including High Hopes
Brain Injury Program, the Harry and Grace
Steele Children’s Center, and the Pediatric
Cancer Foundation. |
