Marisa graduated cum laude from
Pepperdine University in 1999, with a
Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration. She received her Juris
Doctor from the University of Michigan Law
School in 2002, where she graduated in the
top third of her class. While at the
University of Michigan Law School, she was a
participant in the Henry M. Campbell Moot
Court competition, and a member of the
Entertainment Law Student Association.
Marisa began her career as an associate
in the Los Angeles office of Milbank, Tweed,
Hadley & McCloy where she focused on complex
business litigation, including shareholder
derivative actions, reinsurance disputes and
bankruptcy. Marisa was also an associate in
the Los Angeles office of Foley & Lardner
LLP focusing on intellectual property
matters, health law, and complex business
litigation. During her time at Foley, Marisa
drafted and argued dispostive motions,
negotiated multiple settlements, took and
defended depositions, and worked as the lead
associate on multiple complex cases.
Prior to joining Montage Legal Group,
Marisa was an associate with Payne & Fears
in Irvine, California, where she focused on
business litigation matters with a
particular focus on unfair competition and
trade secret misappropriation. At Payne &
Fears, Marisa represented a broad spectrum
of clients, including, financial
institutions, international companies, and
small business owners in a wide range of
commercial matters, including breach of
contract, fraud, misappropriation of trade
secret, ERISA and intellectual property
actions. Marisa prepared and argued numerous
motions in state and federal court, took and
defended over 30 depositions, conducted
complex discovery, prepared for trials, and
was the lead associate on several matters
while at Payne & Fears.
In additional to her legal career, Marisa
is a member of the Junior League of Orange
County and Women Helping Women. Marisa is
also a member of the Orange County Bar
Association. Marisa is admitted to practice
in the U.S. District Courts for the
Northern, Central, Southern, and Eastern
Districts of California and the U.S. Court
of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit. |
