Maureen graduated from
Santa Clara University with a bachelor’s in
biology, and was a member of the University
Honors Program, Phi Beta Kappa and
Tri Beta. She previously had studied
both biology and engineering while at the
Air Force Academy. She was honorably
discharged, and subsequently interned with
the Army JAG Corps following her second year
of law school. Maureen obtained her J.D.
from the University of Michigan Law School,
from which she graduated magna cum laude
and Order of the Coif.
Maureen then clerked
for the Alaska Supreme Court and the Tenth
Circuit Court of Appeals, which gave her
extensive experience in legal research and
writing, and comparative law. For three
years following her clerkships, she worked
at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan on a
wide range of civil matters, including civil
appeals before the Ninth Circuit.
Maureen has represented
clients in a wide range of civil matters,
including those involving trade secret
theft, breach of contract, breach of the
duty of loyalty, breach of fiduciary duty,
the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, civil
RICO, copyright infringement, trade dress
infringement, trademark infringement, family
law, false advertising, unfair business
practices, blue sky laws, intentional
interference with contract or prospective
economic advantage and patent litigation.
Ms. Ryan has been to trial several times,
including for a temporary restraining order
that a client successfully obtained against
a former employee.
In addition to her
trial work, Maureen also has advised clients
on the appellate process for zoning
applications, including the use of mandamus,
on the strength of appellate claims for the
purpose of obtaining a favorable settlement
on appeal, and on day-to-day legal matters.
Maureen currently
handles freelance litigation projects
through Montage Legal Group, and is located
in Redwood City, California.
