Sana Swe
earned her Bachelor of Arts
degree with honors in
Political Science from
Occidental College and
obtained her Juris Doctor from
Loyola Law School in 1994
where she graduated magna
cum laude and Order of
the Coif, and was a member
of the Loyola Law Review.
Sana
began her legal career at
Irell & Manella, LLP, where
she practiced litigation and
employment law from 1994 to
1997. Sana then joined Paul
Hastings LLP, where she was
elected full equity partner in
the Employment Law Department
in 2005. Sana resigned as
partner in 2008 to freelance
and to start her own labor and
employment law firm.
Sana has
represented clients in areas
such as discrimination, sexual
harassment, wrongful
termination, whistleblower
claims, and wage and hour
violations, and has
successfully handled
mediations, arbitrations and
jury trials. Sana also has
experience with employment
contracts, personnel training,
personnel policies,
noncompetition and
non-solicitation agreements
and litigation, negligent
hiring, employment defamation,
misrepresentation in hiring,
fair employment practices,
executive severance contracts,
employment arbitration,
employee discipline and
investigations, and cases
involving the Family Medical
Leave Act, California Family
Rights Act, California Fair
Employment and Housing Act,
Americans with Disabilities
Act, Fair Labor Standards Act,
Age Discrimination Act, Title
VII Discrimination, Equal
Employment Opportunity Law,
and Reductions in Force. She
has appeared in proceedings
before the Department of Fair
Employment and Housing, the
Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission, and the Department
of Labor Standards
Enforcement. Sana has a
special focus on employment
counseling and in the early
negotiation and resolution of
disputes.
Sana has
also authored several
publications, including a
comprehensive chapter in the
Thomson-West Attorney
reference book covering all
aspects of California
discrimination law.
Sana
joined Montage Legal Group in
2011 as a freelance attorney.
In additional to her legal
career, Sana has been on the
Board of Directors of the
Children Affected by AIDS
Foundation and the National
Kidney Foundation. |
