Shannon obtained her
Juris Doctor from University of San
Francisco School of Law in 1999, where she
served on and was published in the USF Law
Review. Shannon received her undergraduate
degree in 1992 from Scripps College in
Claremont, CA with a B.A. in Art History and
Theatre.
After law school,
Shannon joined the Litigation Group at
Cooley Godward LLP in San Diego,
California. At Cooley, Shannon managed all
aspects of litigation, including devising
litigation strategies, researching, drafting
and arguing motions (prevailed in every
dispositive motion drafted or supervised),
and conducting and defending depositions.
Following Cooley
Godward LLP, Shannon joined Baker & McKenzie
LLP’s Litigation Group, where she focused on
consumer class actions and complex business
and commercial disputes.
Shannon’s experience
includes the following representative
matters, among others: first-chairing a
nine-day jury trial in a breach of contract
and fraud action; second-chairing a
successful two-week arbitration resolving
claims totaling $50 million brought in a
shareholder derivative case; defeating class
certification (including a Ninth Circuit
Appeal) in a federal putative products
liability nationwide and California class
action brought against a leading consumer
products company; successfully resolving by
summary judgment a putative products
liability nationwide class action brought
against a leading consumer products company
in San Diego Superior Court; at summary
judgment stage, assisting in defeating a $22
billion case brought against a large
international oil company; and successfully
defeating a federal shareholder derivative
suit at the motion to dismiss stage.
Shannon has had her own
practice and been doing contract work for
the past three years. She affiliated with
Montage Legal Group in early 2011 and
handles freelance litigation projects. She
is admitted to practice law in California,
Texas and New York, and is a member in good
standing of the Ninth Circuit and United
States District Courts of California. She
is a NITA instructor and frequently teaches
trial and deposition skills courses
throughout the Country. |
