Susan graduated summa
cum laude with a B.B.A. in Business
Management from Abilene Christian University
in 1989. She then attended Pepperdine
University School of Law, where she became
Note and Comment Editor of the Pepperdine
Law Review, and received American
Jurisprudence Awards for Legal Research and
Writing I and II. During law school, she
served as a Judicial Extern to Judge Byrne
of the United States District Court. She
obtained her Juris Doctor, magna cum
laude, in 1992.
Susan began her career at
DiCaro, Highman, D’Antony, Dillard, Fuller &
Gregor in San Diego, California, where
she practiced general civil defense litigation,
including medical malpractice, dental
malpractice, personal injury, premises
liability, construction defect and
employment law. At DiCaro, Susan also
prepared an appeal and prepared and argued a
writ of mandate before the 4th District
Court of Appeals.
In 1994, Susan joined
Balestreri, Pendleton & Potocki in San
Diego, California, where for the next eight
years she focused on construction defect
defense litigation. Her clientele included
developers, general contractors, specialty
contractors, product manufacturers, and
design professionals. Susan prepared
multiple cases for trial, arbitrated and
mediated cases, took and defended hundreds
of depositions of parties and experts,
prepared and argued numerous motions, and
served as the primary handling attorney on
dozens of complex construction defect cases.
After taking some time
off to raise her three children, Susan
re-entered the legal field as a freelance
attorney. She is currently doing contract
work for several law firms, gaining her
experience in business litigation, asset
protection, and business
formation/dissolution. In addition to her
legal career, Susan is Co-Leader of her
daughter’s Girl Scout troop and serves on
the Board of Directors for Kum Ba Yah
Foundation, Inc., which provides school
lunches for students in Haiti. |
